Rotary Grant Process - The New Process
Rotary Grant Process - Welcome to Change
In an effort help Rotary become a more effective organization, the grant application process has been rewritten. Right now there are select districts that are approved to take part in the development and refinement of the grant process.
The goal of this task is pretty simple:
1) Simplify - They understand that the past processes made things more difficult than necessary. The result was that the projects were not as affective as they should be and were not as accountable as they should be.
2) Accountable - In order to keep the strength of Rotary name, it is essential that the process create accountability. This will bring trust, which will bring growth.
3) Hands On - Projects that used to be known as "Check Writing" projects will be discouraged. The focus of he projects should be long-term, sustainable, and measurable.
4) Grow Rotary - The final part is to help Rotary grow. The perception of the effectiveness of projects sponsored by Rotary is essential to the growth of Rotary in the future.
Much of what will take place in the future is going to be pushed down to the club level. Rotary Clubs are going to have to keep track of all of their disbursements, etc. Any questions about the progress of a project will be referred to the club. The district would like to review applications, but in reality, the process is now online. Once a club has been certified they can apply for grants at their convenience.
This is just a summary. There are lots of specifics about how the process has changed, but I believe that the goals are good and the process has a good format. It is going to be interesting! I can't wait to see what we come up with!
